Here’s a selection of some of the work I’ve done for clients so far showing the different styles of curtain heading.
PENCIL PLEAT
The most popular curtain heading providing a gathered look at the top of the curtain. Depth of the heading is often 4 inches but can be deeper – up to 6 inches.

EYELET
Many colours of eyelet can be used, providing a clean modern look which allows the curtain to hang in neat folds. Ideal where you want the curtains to push/stack back as much as possible away from the window. Most customers choose an eyelet colour that blends with the colour of metal pole they’re using. |
|
TRIPLE PLEAT
Triple pleat or pinch pleat provide a neat look to the top of the curtain and when pushed back the curtain stays in folds. |
|
DOUBLE PLEAT
Very similar to triple but only 2 pleats are used allowing the fabric requirements to often be slightly less than with triple pleat. |
|
CARTRIDGE PLEAT
A very effective modern look where one pleat is used only. The curtains push/stack back very neatly.

FRILL TOP
A stand up frill provides a cottagey look and is ideal for windows where there is not much room above the window for a pole. |
|
PUFF-BALL
Similar to frill top but there is a puffed up heading providing a cottagey feel again. Some customers call them cabbage-tops! |
